From the first day of trial the Plaintiff demanded $200,000, after suffering a near internal amputation crushing injury to his left foot, when attempting to transfer from vessel to vessel on our ship. After several long hour days in trial the jury came back and awarded a total of $755,000 in damages but found ZERO PERCENT liability on us, 39% on Co-Defendant (the crew boat), 20% on the Settled Defendant (Plaintiffs Employer), and 41% on Plaintiff himself.
Mr. Cooney's practice is focused primarily in admiralty and maritime law. He has an active trial and appellate practice and has argued before both the Texas Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. Mr. Huffman is involved in the litigation of civil cases in both state and federal courts involving disputes within the areas of admiralty and maritime law, collisions, MARPOL violations, personal injury defense, oil and gas, commercial transactions and insurance coverage. Both are located in the Houston office.
