Six Royston Attorneys named 2013 Rising Stars by Super Lawyers magazine

Jim Thompson, Rob Guerra, Jay Huffman, Erick Lucio, Brian Miller, and Kelly Haas of Royston Rayzor Vickery & Williams, L.L.P. have been selected as Super Lawyers magazine’s 2013 Texas Rising Stars. The list of Rising Stars will appear in the April 2013 edition of Texas Monthly magazine.

Jim Thompson is a Partner in the firm’s Houston Office focusing primarily on litigation. He has also represented manufacturers and premises owners in asbestos litigation as well as other toxic torts and has authored on the subject.  Thompson is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and South Texas College of Law.

Robert Guerra is a Partner in the firm’s Brownsville Office.  His litigation practice includes representing several insurance companies in numerous complex legal matters, including personal injury and wrongful death.  Guerra is a graduate of Rice University and Southern Methodist University School of Law.

Jay Huffman is a Partner in the firm’s Houston office. His practice focuses primarily on the fields of admiralty and maritime law and is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  He is active in the Federal Bar Association and is currently the President Elect of the Southern District of Texas Chapter.  Huffman is a graduate of the United States Military Academy and Baylor School of Law.

Erick Lucio is a Partner in the firm’s Rio Grande Valley office.  He represents contractors, transportation companies, banks, and other clients in South Texas.  He devotes his practice to civil trial work with an emphasis on construction litigation, personal injury litigation, and complex commercial litigation.  Lucio is a graduate from St. Mary’s University and Texas Tech University School of Law. 

Brian Miller is Of-Counsel to the firm’s Corpus Christi office. He is board-certified in civil appellate law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice also includes the defense of civil lawsuits. Miller currently serves as a member of the Court Rules Committee of the State Bar of Texas and as a vice-chair of the Appellate Advocacy Committee of the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Miller is a graduate of Rice University and the University of Texas School of Law.

Kelly Haas is an Associate in the firm’s Galveston office.  Her practice involves litigation of civil cases pending in both state and federal courts involving admiralty and maritime law, collisions, personal injury defense, commercial transactions, insurance coverage, toxic torts and intellectual property matters.  She is active in the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute, Houston Mariner’s Club and the Galveston County Bar Association.  Haas is a graduate of Trinity University and South Texas College of Law.

Super Lawyers based its Rising Stars selections on lawyer nominations, general public nominations, and 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. Rising Stars are selected from lawyers who are 40 years old or younger or who have been practicing for 10 years or less.
