Royston’s Miller completes term as ABA appellate committee chair, begins term on State Bar board of directors

Brian Miller recently completed a one-year term as chair of the Appellate Advocacy Committee of the American Bar Association’s Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section. Miller also recently began a three-year term as a member of the State Bar of Texas’ board of directors.

Miller is a partner at the Corpus Christi office of Royston Rayzor Vickery & Williams L.L.P.

The Appellate Advocacy committee consists of approximately 400 appellate attorneys nationwide who focus on tort and insurance litigation. Miller’s year as chair of that committee ended at the ABA Annual Meeting in Boston in August 2014.

During Miller’s year as chair, the committee expanded its newsletter and adopted The Appellate Quarterly as the newsletter’s new title.During that year, the committee also created a new subcommittee that follows and reports on U.S. Supreme Court developments of interest to tort and insurance practitioners. Miller’s year as chair culminated in the committee presenting an ABA Annual Meeting Showcase continuing legal education program that featured former U.S. solicitor general Theodore Olson and Sports Illustrated legal analyst Michael McCann.

Daniel Wallach of Becker & Poliakoff in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., follows Miller as chair of the committee.

Miller won election to the State Bar’s board of directors in April 2014, and he took office at the State Bar’s Annual Meeting in June 2014. Corpus Christi, Victoria, Seguin, Kingsville, and Alice are among the cities in the district that Miller serves.

Miller is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
