Mr. Uhles’ practice encompasses a wide variety of trial/litigation, and client counseling. His early practice involved admiralty and maritime matters involving personal injury litigation, shop collisions, offshore oilfield accidents, construction defect claims, commercial disputes, maritime bankruptcy and vessel financing. Mr. Uhles’ practice has grown to mostly encompass significant complex litigation in the areas of product liability, construction, commercial disputes, transportation, catastrophic injury, labor and employment mattes, and on occasion environmental litigation disputes. He has successfully tried multi-party cases with multi-million dollar claims, in some of the more difficult venues in the United States. His trial experience includes product liability, construction, premise defect, dramshop, employment discrimination, trucking, maritime and non-maritime personal injury, insurance coverage, toxic tort, oilfield negligence and commercial cases in state and federal courts, before Administrative Agencies and in Arbitration.

Mr. Uhles’ legal experience began as a law clerk with the United States Court of Appeals-Fifth Circuit for the Honorable Reynaldo G. Garza, Sr. Subsequently, Mr. Uhles handled appeals in a variety of state and federal courts as well as appellate bodies within administrative agencies. Mr. Uhles’ practice now encompasses counseling clients in such areas as risk transfer, resolving disputes with governmental entities, OSHA, and employment matters. His complex litigation and commercial litigation experience has also provided a background for Mr. Uhles to assist clients in negotiating contracts and in structuring transactions.

Mr. Uhles’ practice now includes serving as an Arbitrator and as a Mediator. The mediation practice arose out of his experience in representing lead defendants in complex multi-party litigation; an integral part of this practice is assisting all parties in assessing their risk and attempting to put together settlements. Mr. Uhles has completed the AAA 32 hour course on Mediation skills.

Mr. Uhles has a history of service in legal, civic and community affairs. This includes service in a number of youth and charitable organizations where he served in such roles as President of the Rio Valley Youth Soccer Association, Chairman of the Brownsville Economic Development Commission, and Youth Director at First Baptist Church.
