Our Intellectual Property Group has expertise in the areas of litigation, licensing, and the preparation and prosecution of applications for patent, trademark, copyright and vessel hull design protection.  The Firm integrates its intellectual property practice with other practice groups to provide clients with comprehensive legal services.  We routinely deliver proactive advice to small inventive entities as well as large multi-national corporations regarding their intellectual property and how to protect it.  Typically, protection comes in the form of a patent, trademark registration, copyright registration and trade secret protection, or any combination thereof, and can include business entity formation, transactions and insurance - all of which are routinely negotiated and reviewed by the Firm.  In the enforcement and dispute arena, the Firm is adept at representing the client’s best interests when others infringe or accuse our clients of infringement. When required, we tap into the Firm’s resources to provide clients a team with experience in understanding the relevant technology, and ascertaining the validity and strength of the rights in dispute and litigation, including the trial of cases to conclusion and the preservation of error for appeal.

The Firm also provides comprehensive legal services to entrepreneurs and businesses involved in the Internet, as well as hardware and software companies.  We deliver proactive advice and assistance in addressing our clients’ legal needs related to web site and e-commerce clearance, business method patents, licensing, copyright issues, contract negotiations and litigation, and issues related to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Frequently, clients requesting advice regarding e-commerce ventures also need counsel in other fields, such as business entity formation, labor and employment issues, contract negotiations and insurance coverage.  We provide such counsel based in part on our multidisciplinary approach to client service.
